Bola Oyebamiji, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), is a distinguished public servant whose remarkable contributions continue to leave an indelible mark on public service and governance in Nigeria.

Known for his humility, generosity, and unwavering commitment to community development, Oyebamiji has demonstrated exceptional leadership across various sectors, making him a beacon of excellence and dedication.

During his tenure as Commissioner for Finance in Osun State, Oyebamiji earned widespread respect for his professionalism and support for colleagues.

As Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, I had the privilege of working closely with him and witnessed firsthand his proactive approach to governance.

He ensured that resources were promptly made available for media and publicity efforts, often going beyond the call of duty to provide support.

Today, as we mark his birthday, it is important to highlight his transformative journey in public service, which began in 2012 when he was appointed Managing Director of the Osun State Investment Company Limited (OSICOL).

Under his leadership, OSICOL’s value rose from ₦300 million to ₦3 billion within five years, a feat that earned him recognition and his subsequent appointment as Commissioner for Finance in 2017.

In his current role at NIWA, Oyebamiji has again demonstrated his capacity for turning challenges into opportunities. Within a year, he has revitalized the agency, aligning its operations with the Performance Bond signed with his principal, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

His innovative leadership and strategic reforms have positioned NIWA for greater efficiency and growth.

Born in Ikire, Osun State, Oyebamiji’s academic and professional journey is a testament to his quest for excellence.

After completing his primary education at ADC Primary School, Oke-Ada, and secondary education at Ayedaade Grammar School, Ikire, he pursued a National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Banking and Finance at The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

He later earned two master’s degrees in Public Administration and Business Administration from Lagos State University and the University of Ado-Ekiti, respectively.

An accomplished banker, Oyebamiji’s career spans leadership roles at Wema Bank, Trans International Bank, Spring Bank, and Enterprise Bank.

His expertise in finance, human resources, and policy formulation has continued to define his public service career.

As we celebrate Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji today, it is clear that his remarkable journey is far from over. His unwavering focus, competence, and loyalty set him apart as a visionary leader.

With his achievements at NIWA, there is no doubt that he is poised for even greater responsibilities in the future.

On this special occasion, I join countless others in wishing him Allah’s blessings, guidance, and protection. May his legacy of excellence inspire future generations.
