International Women’s Day: Eko Support Services counsels female students

Eko Support Services Limited (ESSL), operators of Apapa BullNose Free Trade Zone in Lagos Port Complex, on Wednesday, March 12, celebrated the 2025 International Women’s Day with a goodwill visit to students of Sacred Hearts College, Apapa, Lagos.

The United Nations has dedicated March 8 every year as the International Women’s Day (IWD) to the celebration of women globally. The theme for 2025 was  #AccelerationAction for Gender Equality.

ESSL held motivational talks with the young female students of the school on the theme of the IWD and how they could attain and achieve their goals and dreams.

The Eko Support team was led by lfunanyachukwu Nwobi, Human Resources Officer, who counselled the students that they must pursue their dreams with an accelerated vigour in line with the 2025 lWD theme – #Acceleration Action for Gender Equality.

She said they must be bold and decisive by taking bold steps in in steps they take to actualize goals they set for themselves.

According to lfunanyachukwu Nwobi,  an alumnae of the school, “to accelerate action means we don’t just dream about our progress – we actively chase it. It means taking bold steps towards our goals, even when we feel unprepared. It means using our voices, stepping outside our comfort zones, and proving – first ourselves and then to the world – that we are capable of greatness.

“I stand here today as a living proof that growth is possible, change is possible, and action makes all the difference. So, to every woman here, I urge you: step into opportunities, even when they scare you. Own your space because you deserve to be heard . Push forward because every step you take accelerates your journey to success.

“Let today be a reminder that our dreams are valid, our voices are powerful, and the future is in our hands. Let us Accelerate Action – for ourselves, for each other, and for the generations to come.”

Mrs Adamma Patrick-Ogbebor, Senior Documentation Supervisor of Eko Support, also gave her words of exhortation on how teenage girls and young ladies should comport themselves wherever they find themselves.  She said they must always remember the home they come from, be very focused, hardworking and confident.

“Most importantly,  you must have the fear of God and have Him in your consciousness in all your undertakings, and you can be sure that success shall crown your efforts,” said Ogbebor.

Also, a health professional and staff of ESSL, Mrs Elizabeth Morka, educated the girl students on how to sanitize and keep themselves clean at all times.

The event, an interractive session where students tackled puzzles and got generous gifts, was well attended by ESSL staff, the Principal of the school, Mr. Obasohan Constantine, staff and students.

The Principal, Obasohan Constantine, who acknowledged the importance of the Women’s Day, was full of gratitude to the management of Eko Support Services Limited for not only picking their school for the epochal visit but for showering the students with gifts and imparting them with lessons that would help them as they march on in life.

He said that the young girls were happy and touched by messages in the talks.
