More customs agents supporting Bola Ashiru Balogun as elected ANLCA Chairman of MMIA Chapter
As ANLCA NEC urged to respect court order and police intervention
A group of customs agents is rooting for Mr. Bola Ashiru Balogun in claiming his electoral mandate, stating categorically that he was the only one duly elected as the Chairman of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) chapter.
The customs agents said despite failure of the ANLCA National Executive Council to recognise and allow Bola Ashiru Balogun to assume office, a court of competent jurisdiction had ruled in his favour and in its judgement affirmed him as the authentic chairman of the chapter.
In an interaction with PortNews in Lagos, a customs licensed agent, Mr. Oludare Layoku, Managing Director of D-One International Limited, made this position on behalf of his colleague customs agents who are rooting for Bola Ashiru Balogun.
Mr. Oludare Layoku blamed the ANLCA National Executive Council for the lingering leadership crisis rocking the chapter, maintaining that if the ANLCA NEC had not contested the legality of the judgment and recognized Balogun, the crises would not have aggravated to this level.
He advised the ANLCA President and members of the NEC to be more circumspect in their decision against Ashiru Balogun and graciously respect the court judgement declaring him as the rightful chairman of the chapter.
To further confirm that Bola Ashiru Balogun is the rightful elected chairman, Layoku said some notable leaders in the chapter and some members of the ANLCA Board of Trustees had paid a solidarity visit to him confirming their support for him.

Just as he said the leadership of the Nigeria Customs Service in the cargo section recognizes only Bola Ashiru Balogun as the chairman.
Layoku argued that the interregnum in the ANLCA Chairman’s office created an undue interference in their cargo handling operations by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), State Security Service (SSS) and Police Bomb Detector.
He claimed that upon assumption of office by Bola Ashiru Balogun as the Chairman, sanity quickly returned to the cargo section as NDLEA, SSS and others retraced their steps and the interference in their business stopped immediately.
According to Layoku, this unwholesome act stopped because Balogun used the instruments of the office and his exemplary leadership quality and skill to intervene.
Layoku informed that the Nigeria Police had intervened in the crisis, inviting all parties to a parley on Thursday, July 29. Expressing confidence that the outcome of the parley would go in favour of Bola Ashiru Balogun, he advised the national leaders of ANLCA and opposing contender in the chapter to accept the outcome in the interest of their business and the national economy.
