Busy Xmas for terminal operators, shipping agents as 17 ships expected at Apapa Port

The period of Christmas and, by extension, celebration of 2025 is going to be a busy one for terminal operators and some shipping agencies at Apapa Port in Lagos. A total of 17 vessels are expected to berth. In fact, some of the vessels have since arrived.

This development was contained in a shipping position released by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) on Thursday, December 19, 2024.

The shipping position notes that the biggest terminal operator in the port, APM Terminals Limited, will handle seven vessels which are laden with containers. Four vessels with bulk wheat will land at Greenview Nigeria Development Limited.

Within this period, one vessel will discharge bulk fertilizer at the berth of Apapa Bulk Terminal Limited, a subsidiary of a major miller in Nigeria, Flour Mills of Nigeria.

Two vessels, loaded with bulk wheat, will be handled by Standard Flour Mills. ENL Consortium Limited will handle one vessel laden with general cargo.

According to NPA, the last two ships are going to terminal of Bulk Oil Plant (BOP) to discharge butane gas.

For easy discharge of these cargoes by the seventeen vessels, 11 shipping agencies will provide this service. They are Allison Shipping Agency, Hapag-Lloyd, Coastal Services, BlueStar Shipping, WAP, and Maersk Nigeria Limited.

Others are COSCO Shipping, GMT Shipping, Dalimfiz Shipping, PIL Nigeria and SAMCHAM Holdings.
