15 ships expected at Tin Can Island Port five days to Xmas

Cargo handling operators such as terminal operators, shipping agencies, Customs operatives, freight forwarders and haulage providers at Tin Can Island Port in Lagos will be busy throughout the Christmas period. 15 vessels, laden with various cargoes, are expected to berth at the port between December 18 and 25, 2024.

This development is contained in the shipping position released by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) today, Friday, December 20, 2024.

The shipping position states that Josepdam Port Services Limited would be busier than other terminals as it expects a total of five ships within this period.

Activities at Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) would pick up as four ships are expected to berth at the terminal. While one is expected at Ports & Cargo Handling Services Limited, so is one for PTML.

Five Star Logistics Limited and Tincan Island Container Terminal would handle two ships each.

The 15 vessels are laden with containers, bulk wheat, bulk malt, AGO, base oil, ATK & oil, new vehicles and used vehicles. One of the vessels is in ballast.

According to the shipping position, 10 shipping agencies are making frantic efforts to provide logistics for easy discharge by these vessels.

The shipping agencies are Hapag-Lloyd, Calm Water, West Atlantic Port Services (WAPS), Allison Shipping and MSC.

Others are White Waters Agency, Grimaldi, Eagle Flour Mills Shipping Limited, African Port Services and Cross Marine.
