Nigeria Railway MD, Opeifa, calls for strategic rail master plans

The Managing Director, Nigeria Railway Corporation, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, has called for a strategic rail master plan and a holistic national transport policy to drive sustainable transportation in Nigeria.
Dr. Opeifa made the call while speaking at the 11th Transport Day Lecture on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Ikeja, Lagos while emphasizing the need for state-backed transport ministries.
“We emphasized the need for state-backed transport ministries, strengthened vehicle administration systems, and alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) all pointing toward accessibility, affordability, and environmental responsibility.

At the event, the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO Plc) was honored with award of the Aviation Ground Handling Company of the Year.
The 11th Nigeria Transport Lecture, hosted by Transport Day Media, was attended by key players in Nigeria’s transportation sector to discuss the future and challenges of sustainable transportation within the country.
