NIMASA DG commended over CBA signing by MWUN, Melsmore

The President-General of the Maritme Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, has commended the Director-General of Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, over the successful unionization of Melsmore Ltd and the signing of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) by Melsmore Ltd and the Union.

Comrade Bunu described Dr. Mobereola as a very thorough, proactive and disciplined administrator whose vast knowledge in Maritme administration cannot be overemphasized as it made the whole process a reality for both organizations.

The MWUN President General promised that the working relationship between NIMASA, MWUN, and Melsmore Ltd would continue to wax stronger having attained this height of mutual understanding in the shortest period of time.

Comrade Bunu also used the opportunity to thank the management of Melsmore Ltd for listening to the voice of reasoning while companies have refused giving their workers the necessary welfare package as recommended by Labour Laws. He pointed out that the Union frowns at such companies for ignoring the rights and plights of their workers.

“And having gone past all the rough stages of discussions, and having arrived at a truce, the Union is impressed with the intervention of Dr. Mobereola, who played the roles of a “Big Brother” in seeing to the amicable end of the quagmire between Melsmore Ltd and the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria. We, therefore, say that Dr. Mobereola is indeed the “Doctor” of the Maritime Industry,” said Bunu Abi.
