APFFLON is committed to building virile freight forwarding in Nigeria – President

The Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) says it remains committed to fostering harmony, constructive engagement with the government and responsible leadership in the port sector towards building a virile freight forwarding profession.

The National President of APFFLON, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, made this position known while calling on all leaders and stakeholders in the freight forwarding in the port sector to urgently reflect on the state of “our unity and collective responsibility.”

In a statement, APFFLON President maintained that the aviation and maritime sector is key to the growth of the economy of the nation as freight forwarding leadership in this sector must be guided by maturity, vision, and responsibility — not actions capable of creating confusion or anarchy within the system

He pointed out that the freight forwarding profession only thrives on coordination, structured engagement, and collective advocacy but when leaders fail to promote harmony, the entire industry suffers the consequences.

According to Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, “At a time when the maritime sector remains central to Nigeria’s economic growth and trade competitiveness, division, rivalry, and unnecessary confrontations among industry players only weaken our relevance and credibility. Leadership in this industry must be guided by maturity, vision, and responsibility — not actions capable of creating confusion or anarchy within the system.

“As leaders, we are expected to review our commitment to unity and demonstrate exemplary conduct that fosters collaboration rather than discord. The freight forwarding profession thrives on coordination, structured engagement, and collective advocacy. When leaders fail to promote harmony, the entire industry suffers the consequences.

“The current administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda presents opportunities for transformation within the maritime space — from port reforms and trade facilitation to digitalization and economic expansion. However, meaningful contribution to this national vision requires a united front. Prosperity will judge each of us if we fail to come together and position our sector as a constructive partner in national development.”

Ogunojemite said when freight forwarders are united, they would be able to negotiate effectively, influence policies, attract investors and collectively drive sustainable growth.

“We must rise above personal interests and associations rivalry to protect the integrity and future of our profession. The maritime industry is too strategic to be weakened by internal fragmentation.

“Let us choose dialogue over division, collaboration over confrontation, and progress over politics.

“In unity, our voice is stronger. In unity, our industry is respected. In unity, we secure the future of freight forwarding in Nigeria.
