Grimaldi to showcase maritime network at Istanbul’s Logitrans

From 11 to 13, November 2026, Grimaldi Group will present to visitors and industry professionals its extensive maritime network operated across the Mediterranean under the Grimaldi Lines brand at its exhibition area at Logitrans.

Grimaldi said particular attention will be devoted to the recent strengthening of the maritime services between Italy and Türkiye, where four hybrid ro-ro vessels of the Grimaldi Green 5th Generation (GG5G) class are currently deployed. Most recently, the vessel Eco Adriatica joined and enhanced the Trieste-Bari-Patras-Ambarli-Gemlik routes. Like her sister vessels Eco Salerno, Eco Mediterranea and Eco Malta, already operating on the services, she can carry up to 7,800 lane metres of rolling freight, equivalent to more than 520 trailers. Thanks to the combined deployment of these four green giants, the Group’s service capacity now exceeds 4,000 rolling units per week and 200,000 rolling units per year.

The Grimaldi Group entered the Turkish short sea shipping market in September 2024. Since then, in response to growing transport demand, the regular connection between Italy, Greece and Türkiye has been progressively expanded through the addition of new ports of call and increased cargo capacity. The deployment of the Eco Adriatica marks a further step forward in the development of traffic flows in the Eastern Mediterranean, confirming the strategic importance of this maritime corridor for international trade.

The Eco Adriatica is among the largest and most environmentally sustainable ro-ro vessels in the world operating in short sea shipping. In addition to her substantial cargo capacity, the ship is equipped with innovative technologies that make it possible to halve CO₂ emissions per transported unit compared with the previous generation of ro-ro vessels, while reducing them to zero during port stays thanks to the use of energy stored in powerful lithium batteries. These batteries are recharged during navigation through shaft generators and 350 square metres of solar panels installed on board, enabling the vessel to achieve the “Zero Emission in Port®” objective.

Through these investments, the Grimaldi Group further consolidates its position in the Mediterranean ro-ro transport sector, reaffirming its commitment to developing increasingly efficient, reliable and environmentally sustainable logistics solutions. This commitment is reflected in the continuous expansion of its Motorways of the Sea network, offering transport operators a competitive and sustainable alternative to road transport.
