ANLCA President, Nwokoeji, meets Customs, PTML over rising costs of cargo clearance

On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the National President of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Sir Emenike Nwokeoji, raised concerns over rising costs of cargo clearance at Port Terminal Multipurpose Limited (PTML) at Tin Can Island Port, Lagos.

During separate meetings with the Customs Area Controller of PTML Command, Comptroller Tenny Mankini Daniyan, and Managing Director of Grimaldi Shipping/PTML, Mr Ascanio Russo, Sir Emenike Nwokoeji raised the concerns and sought the cooperation of both organisations in addressing this challenge towards boosting cargo delivery operations in the port.

While with the PTML Customs boss, Comptroller Tenny Mankini Daniyan, the ANLCA President told  Daniyan that the rising costs of clearing goods at PTML was escalated by the involvement of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) in cargo movements.

Sir Emenike Nwokeoji, accompanied by his Deputy, Prince Segun Oduntan, to introduce the new executive members of the PTML ANLCA Chapter led by Chief Charlie Nwariene to the Customs Controller.

Nwokoeji also raised other issues bothering on various operational challenges and sought the support of the command for ANLCA members and others to operate seamlessly while the command achieves its goals – trade facilitation and revenue target.

Responding, Comptroller Daniyan assured the ANLCA leadership and indeed members of ANLCA operating in the command of  maximum cooperation.

Promising to improve on the synergy that already exists between them and his Command, Daniyan commended the Chief Charlie Nwariene, Chairman of PTML ANLCA Chapter and his executive for their understanding and cooperation since he assumed office as the Customs Area Controller.

Comptroller Daniyan presented a plaque to Sir Nwokeoji in recognition of his contributions to the industry. In return, the ANLCA President decorated Comptroller Daniyan with an ANLCA Honorary Membership Lapel, symbolizing collaboration and commitment to excellence in Customs operations.

While meeting the Managing Director of At Grimaldi Shipping/PTML, Mr. Ascanio Russo, Sir Nwokoeji demanded for increase in Grimaldi Access Cards as ANLCA members requested to facilitate smoother operational processes.

The ANLCA President, who introduced the new executive members of the PTML ANLCA Chapter led by Chief Charlie Nwariene to Mr. Russo, sought the cooperation of PTML in making cargo operations worthwhile and pleaded with the management to consider providing a space for the chapter to use as its Secretariat.

Responding, Mr. Ascanio Russo said his management would look into the request in due course.

After meeting the Customs and PTML management, the ANLCA National President had an interactive session with members of the chapter and challenged the chapter executive to work hard towards getting a befitting secretariat.

He also charged all members to always report whatever challenges they may encounter during delivery of their clients’ cargoes to the Chapter Executives.

Thanking the National President and members of his executive, Chief Charles Nwariene assured Sir Nwokoeji effective administration and adequate welfare of members. “It is the desire of NECOM that, going forward, the Chapter will begin to experience their expectation,” said Chief Charlie Nwariene.

Also on the entourage of the National President were National Secretary, Elder Olumide Fakanlu; National Publicity Secretary, Emmanuel Onyeme; Zonal Coordinator West, Alhaji Femi Anifowose and the Zonal Secretary, Alhaji Idowu Owoade.
