APFFLON attributes tenure extension of CGC to sterling leadership
The Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) has described the extension of tenure of Office of the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a testament to the remarkable leadership, professionalism, dedication, and transformational reforms that Adeniyi has brought to the Nigeria Customs Service.
APFFLON said under Adeniyi stewardship, the Service has witnessed significant improvements in revenue generation, trade facilitation, stakeholder engagement, anti-smuggling operations, and the modernization of customs processes, all of which have contributed immensely to the growth of Nigeria’s economy.
The APFFLON National President, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, stated this while the association was reacting and rejoicing with the Comptroller-General of Customs on the extension in Lagos.
Otunba Frank Ogunojemite commended the Federal Government for recognizing the outstanding contributions of the CGC and entrusting him with the opportunity to consolidate on the gains already recorded.
While celebrating this milestone, APFFLON urged the Comptroller-General of Customs to make the welfare of serving and retired customs officers a top priority during this extended tenure.
“The association strongly advocates for the introduction of comprehensive and life-long medical care programmes for customs personnel, considering the enormous sacrifices and occupational hazards associated with their duties.
“We believe that a sustainable healthcare framework that guarantees quality medical treatment for officers and their families, both during active service and after retirement, will significantly boost morale, productivity, and commitment to national service.
“APFFLON calls for the strengthening of insurance schemes and welfare packages for customs officers. Adequate health and life insurance coverage will provide security and peace of mind for officers who daily put their lives on the line in the protection of Nigeria’s borders and economic interests.
“The extension of the CGC’s tenure presents a unique opportunity to leave a lasting legacy not only in institutional reforms and revenue generation but also in the welfare, healthcare, and overall well-being of the men and women of the Nigeria Customs Service.
“APFFLON remains committed to supporting the Nigeria Customs Service and all initiatives aimed at promoting trade facilitation, economic development, and the welfare of officers and stakeholders within the maritime and logistics sector,” said Ogunojemite, wishing him continued success, wisdom, and strength as he leads the Nigeria Customs Service to greater heights.
