As Nigeria continues the mourning of the passage of former President Muhammad Buhari, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has urged the Federal Government to reflect over his (Buhari) policies and recommit to the creation of a conducive atmosphere for sustainable economic development and the upliftment  of the overall wellbeing of the citizenry.

The MAN President, Otunba Francis Meshioye OFR, stated this in a condolence statement on the death of former President Muhammad Buhari, saying his administration provided solutions to some of the challenges confronting manufacturers in the country.

Former President Muhammad Buhari passed away on Sunday July 13, 2025 in a London clinic after a prolonged illness. He was elected as President in the general election held in 2015 and was sworn in May 29 2015 and led the country till May 29, 2023 when he handed over to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Before he was democratically elected, he had led the country as a military head of state from December 31, 1983 to August 1985 when his administration was toppled in a military coup.

The statement by MAN President reads thus: The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) joins the nation in mourning the passing of former President Buhari GCFR.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR served the nation, first as a military leader, and more recently as a civilian President from 2015 to 2023, during which he implemented policies aimed at promoting economic growth, improving infrastructure, and enhancing Nigeria’s industrial development. His tenure brought attention to the importance of manufacturing as a driver of economic development and job creation. Though the economy experienced difficulties during his tenure, President Buhari granted the Association audience to proffer solutions to mitigate the binding constraints that limited the performance of the manufacturing sector. He also provided solutions to some of the challenges confronting manufacturers.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, associates, and all Nigerians during this solemn time.

As the nation reflects over the life and career of President Muhammadu Buhari, MAN calls upon all Nigerians to honour his memory. We should also reflect on his achievements and continue to work toward the advancements of manufacturing. Government should reflect over his policies and recommit to the creation of a conducive atmosphere for sustainable economic development and the upliftment  of the overall wellbeing of the citizenry.
