FAAN, Customs agents agree on new cargo port tariff of N15

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has finally succumbed to the demand of downward review of the increased cargo port charges by customs licenced agents, operating at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.

FAAN had earlier proposed an upward review of the tariff from N7.00kg to N20.00kg, which did not go down well with the agents who cited economic reasons for their rejection.

At an engagement with the agents on Monday, 9th February 2026, at the MMIA Terminal 2, FAAN agreed to a revised port charge of ₦15.00 per kilogram, representing a compromise from the earlier proposed ₦20.00/kg and an upward review of the existing ₦7.00/kg.

The agreement was chaired by the Director of Cargo Development and Services, Mr. Lekan Thomas.

FAAN, however, believed the resolution will enhance the ease of doing business at MMIA while supporting sustainable airport and cargo infrastructure development. It reaffirmed its commitment to continuous stakeholder engagement, the SEDI (Safety, Efficiency, Development and Innovation) principles, and the ongoing modernization of cargo terminal facilities.
