How B’Odogwu is increasing Customs revenue collection from Excise and FTZs
Despite hues and cries, the Nigeria Customs Service has not relented in making its homegrown cargo clearance tech, Unified Customs Management System (also known as B’Odogwu), work for the benefits of importers, customs agents and, more importantly, in the interest of the national economy.
The result of the B’Odogwu has manifested as the volume of the revenues being collected and declared by the Customs has continued to soar.
In the data on the positive impact of B’Odogwu on Excise and Free Trade Zones, the Service affirmed a significant increase in the volume of revenue it collected from Excise and from Free Trade Zones between the third quarters of 2024 and 2025.
On the Excise, in third quarter of 2024, the Service collected N66,421,412,523.25. And in 2025 third quarter, it collected the sum of N74,154,646,252.63, which is a significant increase of 10.43% when compared to 2024.

With the deployment of the B’Odogwu at Free Trade Zones, the Service has witnessed increase in its revenue collection. In the third quarter of 2024, the Customs collected N125,722,485,314.00 and in 2025, it collected N237,342,731,608.00. When it is compared to 2024, this is a 47.03% increase.
The tech was introduced by the Nigeria Customs Service to replace the system provided for it by Webbfontane.
