KLT Customs Controller visits bonded terminals to examine operations

The Acting Customs Area Controller of the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Area Command, Deputy Comptroller BL Adigun, has visited all bonded terminals within the command to evaluate operations, compliance level with Customs laws and procedures, identify areas for improvement, and provide effective supervision of officers on duty.

The visitations, held on Monday, December 15, 2025, also afforded Comptroller Adigun the opportunity to review the safety and security measures and to observe terminal operations and assess their overall efficiency.

The terminals visited included Bestaf Terminal, Joliz Terminal, Phase 2 Terminal, ESSLIBRA Terminal, and Port Express Terminal.

During these visits, Deputy Comptroller Adigun inspected facilities, reviewed cargo handling processes, and emphasized on discipline, integrity, and strict adherence to Customs regulations.

He also visited licenced terminals that are yet to commence full operations, namely Beachland Consortium Limited, Harvard Terminal, and Tenzik Terminal. At these locations, he confirmed that the terminals have met all required documentary and facilities standards. He promised these terminals full support cooperation as they explore business opportunities within the maritime corridor.

Deputy Comptroller Adigun also commended officers for their dedication and exemplary hard work. He encouraged them to improve teamwork as a collective approach to facilitate legitimate trade. He also highlighted the need for a broader sister agency and stakeholder collaboration by paying keen attention to regulatory standards. This visit provided him with a brief but yet thorough understanding of the Command’s operations thereby bolstering his  supervisory control over all Bonded Terminals within the Command. His focus on operational excellence, strict compliance, accountability, and overall, facilitation of legitimate trade was the hallmark of this Visit.
