Mentoring Day: NPA’s true strength lies in Nigerian people – Dantsoho

The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, says the strength of NPA, an organization at the heart of Nigeria’s maritime economy, lies not only in infrastructure and technology, but more importantly, in Nigerian people.

Abubakar Dantsoho stated this in speech when the NPA on 27th October joined the global community in commemorating the National Mentoring Day 2025.

This signposts, however, its commitment toward future-proofing the Authority for sustainable performance through talent nurturing.

Dantsoho said the occasion marks an important milestone in the commitment of NPA in nurturing future leaders, promoting knowledge transfer, and institutionalizing a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Represented by Executive Director Finance and Administration, Ms. Vivian Richard-Edet, Dantsoho said “as an organization at the heart of Nigeria’s maritime economy, we recognize that our true strength lies not only in infrastructure and technology, but more importantly, in our people.

“The young professionals serving here under the National Youth Service Corps are not just temporary participants; you represent the next wave of innovators, administrators, and change agents who will shape the future of the maritime sector and, by extension, our national economy.

Celebrated on October 27th every year since 2014 when it was founded and inaugurated in London in 2016, the National Mentoring Day encourages everyone to participate in mentoring to give people equal opportunity to reach their potential.

The National Mentoring Day has a mission that aligns with the UN’s goal of reducing inequalities (SDG 10), as it promotes mentorship to foster inclusion and break down barriers.
