The President General of Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, has commended the management of African Logistics Global (AGL), a shipping company, for their pragmatic support and cooperation with the Union at all times.
The labour leader, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, gave the commendation during his recent visit to AGL in Apapa, Lagos.
He said AGL has remained consistent in its partnership with the Union. “Partnership with AGL has never been in doubt. The Union has always remained formidable, strong, resilient, and committed to the pact of both bodies. MWUN is ever determined to keep the pact waxing stronger for the interest of both organizations in the sector yearly,” said Abi.
Welcoming the Union leader and his entourage, the CEO of AGL, Sade Akanni-Shelle, appreciated the enduring mutual working relationship between AGL and the Union over the years.
Akanni-Shelle prayed that the synergy of industrial cooperation would continue to find its bearings with this crop of the Union leadership, which has come on board, after their victory in the recent elections in Lagos.
Also speaking during the visit, the Shipping Branch President, Comrade Tajudeen Abass, appreciated the AGL CEO, Sade Akanni-Shelle and her entire management for their longstanding relationship with the Union.
He also appreciated the management for recognizing and cooperating with the in-house union and appealed to the management to always apply “the Union and Management” procedures of settling internally disputes.
Comrade Abass also thanked AGL for supporting the workers for both the internal and international trainings; appealing that such industrial synergy for growth and development should continue.
The Human Resource Manager of AGL, Mrs. Okwose, admitted that industrial conflicts would always come up but the management and the Union have been proactive in resolving them for the betterment of the two – employees and the employer.
“We also believe in the good spirit of the in-house union for the supportive roles they play towards the continuous rolling of the AGL productive wheel of progress. We accord them that workers and employers relationship respect in terms of discipline and commitment towards duty all the time.
“As much as we are concerned, we can always dialogue with each other to resolve issues and make ourselves available to the new President-General of the Union, knowing full well we are partners in progress in the industry.
“I thank you all for this all important visit, believing that this occasion will further boost our friendship as comrades as both bodies keep sojourning on the paths of progress,” said she.
