MWUN commends Orion, Sea Transport over salary increment of sailors

The President General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, has commended over Orion Marine Services Limited and Sea Transport Ltd over the unprecedented increment of salaries of their sailors who are members of the Union.

The increment follows a new review of the sailors remuneration after the signing of the National Joint Industrial Council (NJIC) by the Union, Orion and Sea Transport.

Welfare of sailors and other members of the Union has always been the arrow head of Comrade Bunu’s administration since assuming PG of MWUN few months.

Comrade Bunu further commended both organizations for having at heart the welfare of their various employees by putting smiles on their faces; stressing that its only when the workers are happy would employers record optimum satisfaction in the sector.

The PG therefore called on other companies in the maritime sector to emulate Orion and Sea Transport by paying worthy salaries to their workforce, enjoining others to comply to avert the wrath of the Union.

“Defaulting companies in the sector shall be made known to the Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency (NIMASA),” said Bunu.
