MWUN commends Police over tight port security

The President General of Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, has commended the Western Port Authority Police Command, Nigeria Police Force, for the tigh security of the Ports environments while making sure that there’s relative peace in the ports.

Comrade Francis Bunu Abi explained that the Union is ever ready to synergise with the Command in ensuring smooth operations at all times.

The President General gave this commendation when he, alongside his national executives, visited the Commissioner of Police of the  Command, CP Olanrewaju Olanrewaju Ishola, in Apapa, Lagos on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

In response, CP Ishola also commended the Union’s administrative leadership for being sincere in all its operations and cooperation with the Command, saying that the peace being witnessed today couldn’t have been achieved without the cooperation of the MWUN and other critical stakeholders at the sector; hence, the Command holds the Union at high esteem.

The visit was to foster seamless relationship between the Port Authority Command of the Police and the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria. It was also to ensure a sustainable collaboration with the force and critical stakeholders, with commitment to security and safety; the Union in all areas of operation at the sea ports.
