The Tin Can Island Port chapter of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has raised its voice against the public molestation and humiliation of a female Customs officer, Assistant Comptroller Isa A.M., by some freight forwarders and customs agents at Tin Can Island Port recently.
A video of the molestation and humiliation, which went viral, pictured freight forwarders shouting against the customs officer and calling her all sorts of names. The management of the Nigeria Customs Service had waded into the matter and promised to unravel what led to the harassment of the female Customs officer.
The Chairman of the chapter, Fwdr. Chief Emeka Paul Chiedozie, condemned the shameful act while congratulating Igwe Kingsley Onyekachi on his appointment as the new Registrar/CEO of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

Speaking at the NAGAFF Tin Can Chapter Secretariat in Apapa on Thursday, October 31, 2024, Fwdr. Chief Emeka Paul Chiedozie, said the molestation and humiliation of the woman was unthinkable and unprofessional act by freight forwarders and customs agents.
Chiedozie said those involved in the ungrateful act are not members of NAGAFF in the port. “l was almost shedding tears when I saw the video. How would freight forwarders in their right minds do that to an officer who has laboured for so many years to get to the rank of An Assistant Comptroller? The freight forwarders and customs agents involved were not professionals and, if indeed they were, they would have known the magnitude of the damage of their ungodly act in the video to the career of the affected officer.
“NAGAFF Family is totally against this act, and we all condemned it completely. We do not know the clearing agents, they’re not NAGAFF members and will never be our NAGAFF members. It is against the ethics of NAGAFF. We are well trained as a professional body,” said the Chairman.
Fwdr. Chief Emeka Paul Chiedozie, who is the Managing Director Seagold Maritime Services Limited, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Fwdr. Igwe Kingsley Onyekachi as CRFFN Registrar/CEO. He said Onyekachi deserved the position.
The Managing Director of Seagold Maritime Services Limited expressed confidence in Onyekachi’s capacity and charged him to deploy his wealth of knowledge and experience to make CRFFN a leading freight forwarding regulatory institution in the country and beyond.
Also speaking, Fwdr Chief Patrick Iyke Anadi, Secretary of the chapter, said the appointment of Fwdr. Igwe Kingsley Onyekachi came at the time when CRFFN was struggling to breathe. “He is totally going to sanitize that agency and bring it back to life,” said he.
Fwdr. Chief Patrick Anadi, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Mophking Logistics and Integrated Services Limited, said the new CRFFN boss is very knowledgeable when it comes to the activities of CRFFN.
According to him, “the lecture he delivered at the last CRFFN training, all the participants were excellently impressed to the extent that he was given a standing ovation by all. Kingsley Igwe is a born leader, his lifestyle is worthy of emulating.”
