No increase in charges under AEO regime – APM Terminals

APM Terminals Apapa has assured importers, customs agents and freight forwarders that charges will not be increased as the Nigeria Customs Service is set to replace the Fast Track Scheme with the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programme on February 1, 2026.

The Fast Track Scheme of the Nigeria Customs Service currently in operation will be phased out on January 31, 2026.

The AEO Programme is a globally recognized initiative under the World Customs Organization (WCO) SAFE Framework, designed to enhance supply chain security and streamline customs procedures for compliant businesses.

AEO status offers advantages such as: Faster cargo clearance and reduced inspections, Priority treatment at ports and Greater trust and partnership with Customs.

APM Terminals Apapa gave this assurance in a Customer Advisory on Transition from Fast Track Scheme to Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Programme on Thursday, January 8, 2026, maintaining “under the AEO regime, Fast Track charges will remain the same, with no increase applied.”

The terminals said businesses wishing to enjoy similar or enhanced benefits must apply for AEO status.

“We encourage all stakeholders to begin preparations for this transition by reviewing the eligibility requirements for AEO certification and initiating the application process early,” said APM Terminals, advising stakeholders to contact the Nigeria Customs Service on for more information on the AEO.
