The Director General of Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Alex Sabundu Badeh Jr., has stated that the Bureau’s core mission is not focused on enforcement, but on uncovering safety lessons and issuing actionable recommendations to prevent accidents across aviation, rail, marine, and road sectors.

Badeh noted that NSIB remains fully committed to collaborating with regulators, operators, and policymakers to protect lives and secure the future of Nigeria’s transport infrastructure.

He stated this while speaking at the 19th National Council on Transportation in Abuja for the unveiling of the new National Land Transport Policy. The theme “Developing Effective Transport Systems for Nigeria: The Role of Integrated Transportation.”

In his address, the NSIB boss assured that the Bureau would not be biased in the probes of transport incidents to drive systemic improvements, implementation and enforcement of safety recommendations by appropriate stakeholders, stronger inter-agency partnerships and continuous training are vital for a resilient transport network.
