Former President-General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Prince Adewale Adeyanju, has felicitated the President-Emeritus of the Association of Nigerian Clearing Agents, Prince Olayiwola Shittu, at his 75th birthday.
It would be recalled that Prince Shittu, whose 75th birthday came up on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, started his early career with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), where he served with humility, without blemish before his exit.
The Oyo State born Prince, as a former ANCLA President, transformed and made the association a beauty to behold in the Nigerian maritime space.
Prince Adeyanju, Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Vice President Global, International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), described Prince Olayiwola Shittu as a respected maritimer, especially in the Clearing and Forwarding terrain, where he carved a niche for himself, subordinates and contemporaries, bringing so much innovation, transformation and aesthetics to that branch of the maritime practice.
According to him, It is also noteworthy to recognize that Shittu’s sterling and unique leadership repositioned ANLCA as a leading freight forwarding association in Nigeria and brought it to the zenith of locally and internationally respect. So, it cannot be de-tasted when I describe my brother, friend, and fellow Maritimer, Prince Shittu as a Reformer, Transformer, Innovator and one of the pioneers of that terrain, whose idealist philosophy have brought so much aesthetics into that clearing profession in the country.
Today, I celebrate him as President-Emeritus, who is simply known as “Prince Shittu”. Shittu’s indelible achievement in ANCLA, cannot be overemphasized; and by affiliating the Association with some bodies abroad won him so much accolades and that became one of his major international breakthroughs for ANCLA.
Shittu, a committed and indefatigable worker is a goodly philanthropist, whose humanitarian services have earned him many merit awards in the country and beyond. Therefore, Shittu is not just a leader but a symbol of grace, strength, integrity and stability of purpose, which he selflessly brought into the maritime industry; a landmark that will endure his legacy with the taste of time.
I dare say again that the “Oyo State born Prince” is an icon of the Maritime Community, he has spread his tentacles of practice globally, as such has also accorded him international recognition.
Once again, I say congratulations to you on your glorious birthday, praying that the Almighty God will continue to grant you peace, joy, good health enmeshed in prosperity and longevity as your soul prospers in communion with your wonderful family.
