Q1: Ogun II Customs generates N15.2 billion

The Ogun Area II Command of  Nigeria Customs Service has generated the sum of N15,191,227,503.82 as revenue for the first quarter of 2025.

The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Bisi Alade, made this known in Abeokuta on Friday, May 16, 2025 while addressing the press on the activities of the command.

Comptroller Alade said the revenue represented about a 40% increase compared to N9,165,717,162.99kb recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.

The figure was collected from Excise (N8,333,039,874.82 kb), Free Trade Zone (N7,164,777,965.00 kb) and Bonded Terminal (Import) N1,495,658,869.00 kb. Total N15,191,227,503.82 kb.

Alade said “This achievement is a testament to the diligence, commitment, and professionalism of our officers and men who have worked tirelessly to ensure we exceed our revenue targets. It is also indicative of our unwavering commitment to the economic growth and development of our dear nation.”

In addition to the N15,191,227,503.82 generated in the period under review, the Controller said the command also discovered another unauthorized factory that was operating illegally, and the Command brought it under excise control.

This Controller attributed the success to several strategic initiatives implemented by his administration, which included enhancing the Command Monitoring Unit operations, improved intelligence gathering, strengthening stakeholders’ engagement, and Corporate social responsibility (CSR).

“This aligns perfectly with the policy thrust of our Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR’s principles of Consolidation, Collaboration, and Innovation. His visionary leadership and enabling support are crucial in enhancing our capabilities and driving these impressive results.

“The Command reaffirms its commitment and the determination to surpass this performance in the coming months with the improved compliance of the trading community, partners at Free Trade Zones and the bonded terminal within the command’s area of responsivity (AoR).

“We will continue to dialogue and educate the stakeholders and the local business community. We shall maintain success through synergy with other partners while discharging our statutory responsibilities of enforcing compliance with government fiscal policy,” said he.
