AIG Maritime appreciates NIMASA for supporting the Command
The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Maritime Police Command, Lagos, AIG Musa Yusuf Garba, has expressed profound appreciation for the longstanding cooperation and unwavering support extended by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) to the Command.
AIG Musa Yusuf Garba also lauded the leadership of Dr. Dayo Mobereola, the NIMASA Director General, for its sustained efforts in advancing Nigeria’s maritime governance and enhancing operational safety standards.
AIG Garba lauded NIMASA on Tuesday, 20th May 2025 when he paid a working visit to Dr. Dayo Mobereola, at the agency’s headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The visit underscored the deepening relationship between the Maritime Police Command and NIMASA in the collective pursuit of maritime safety, security, and regulatory compliance within Nigeria’s territorial waters.
The AIG stated that the visit was a reaffirmation of the Command’s unwavering commitment to strengthening its cordial relationship with NIMASA.
He emphasized that effective maritime security requires synergy among critical stakeholders, and the Maritime Police Command remains resolute in its collaboration with NIMASA to safeguard the nation’s waterways and strengthen institutional cooperation in alignment with both national priorities and international obligations.
In his response, Dr. Dayo Mobereola warmly received the AIG and his delegation, and highlighted the importance of inter-agency synergy in combating maritime threats such as piracy, smuggling, and other illicit activities. He reiterated NIMASA’s readiness to deepen its partnership with the Maritime Police Command in order to foster a safer, more secure, and efficient maritime domain.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening operational frameworks, enhancing intelligence sharing, and intensifying joint enforcement efforts in support of Nigeria’s Blue Economy agenda.
