CCC reiterates confidence in CGC Adeniyi’s leadership at birthday

The Customs Consultative Committee (CCC) has felicitated the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, on his birthday while acknowledging his sterling leadership which has impacted the Nigeria Customs Service and the national economy positively.

In a congratulatory statement, the CCC Chairman, Aaree Fwdr Hakeem Olanrewaju Rff, acknowledged the tenure of the CGC as one characterized by strategic leadership, institutional reform, and strengthened operational governance within the Nigeria Customs Service.

CGC Adewale Adeniyi, on Sunday December 18, 2026, marked his 60th birthday.

According to the statement, “the Committee notes with commendation the measurable progress recorded under your administration in revenue performance, trade facilitation, border management, stakeholder engagement, and the deployment of digital systems across customs operations.

“Your leadership approach has contributed to improved regulatory coordination and enhanced confidence among public and private sector stakeholders within Nigeria’s trade, maritime, aviation, and logistics value chains. These outcomes are consistent with national economic objectives and Nigeria’s international trade facilitation commitments.”

The CCC, however, assured the Comptroller-General of Customs its confidence in his capacity, saying “As you mark this anniversary, the Customs Consultative Committee reaffirms its confidence in your capacity to further integrate, implement, and advance ongoing trade facilitation instruments and administrative policy initiatives, particularly within the framework of the National Single Window programme and the centralization of government revenue collection processes.

“The CCC considers these reforms critical to achieving procedural efficiency, transparency, inter-agency harmonization, and data-driven governance.

“In this regard, the Committee also emphasizes the strategic importance of sustained policy actions by the Nigeria Customs Service towards reducing transactional and compliance costs associated with international trade, with the objective of improving national competitiveness, trade predictability, and ease of doing business.

“The CCC remains committed to constructive engagement and policy support in furtherance of these national objectives.

“Please accept our best wishes for continued good health and the successful consolidation of ongoing reforms in service to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
