Customs, APMT suspend scanning at Apapa Port over repair of scanner

Container scanning operations at Apapa Port, Lagos, have been suspended temporarily because the scanner is undergoing repairs.

Container terminal operator in the port, APM Terminals Apapa disclosed this in a notice to all its customers.

As a result of this, APM Terminals and the Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Command, have resolved to subject all containers to physical examination.

In the notice, APM Terminals said “Kindly be informed that the Nigeria Custom Service (NCS) scanning machine is currently having some technical issues and repairs are being performed on the machine.

“Scanning operations are therefore temporarily on hold until the issue is resolved.

“In the interim, APM Terminals has aligned with the Customs for all the containers scheduled for scanning to be positioned for physical examination.

“The positioning and examination dates will be communicated to you accordingly.

“We will promptly notify customers as soon as the scanning machine is up and running.”
