Concrete development work to commence on ESCI in 2025 – MMCC Chairman

The Chairman of Mercury Maritime Concession Company Limited (MMCC), Real Admiral Andrew Okoja (rtd), has disclosed that concrete development work on Escravos Seaport Industrial Complex (ESCI) project will commence in 2025.

MMCC is the owner of Escravos Seaport Industrial Complex (ESCI) in Warri, Delta State. The development of Escravos Seaport Industrial Complex (ESIC) project commenced in 2019 and aims to develop 31,000 hectares of Delta State land into a Deep Seaport, Crude oil refinery, Gas Complex, Independent Power Plant (IPP), Airport, Nature Park, etc. It is a development that promises to massively open up Delta State and seven other States including FCT – Abuja to international investment in trade, commerce and industry.

Real Admiral Andrew Okoja made this known to PortNews in Lagos on Monday, January 6 while unfolding his expectations in year 2025 for Nigeria’s maritime industry.

Okoja noted that the ESCI management had taken necessary and technical decisions to quicken the commencement of concrete development of ESIC project

The Chairman said he expected optimal utilisation of all transportation modes for effective service delivery in the maritime industry in the new year.

According to him, I expect a real transformation of the internal dynamics of maritime industry in Nigeria wherein, optimum use of Nigeria’s multimodal transportation system (Marine, Rail, Road & Air) will begin to impact significantly on the maritime industry.

“The purpose of the transformation will be to maximally stimulate Nigeria’s economic development in the realms of investment, commerce, trade and industries.

“This is my vision for Nigeria’s maritime industry in 2025 and indeed how things will play out this year.”
