Customs management commended over strategic redeployment of key officers

The redeployment of Comptroller Joe Anani to the Tincan Island Port Command and the appointment of Deputy Comptroller Nura Ibrahim Miko as Acting Controller of PTML Command by the Nigeria Customs Service represents yet another thoughtful and strategic leadership decision deserving of commendation.

Fwdr Eugene Nweke, Rff, Secretary, Customs Consultative Committee (CCC), made this observation while interacting with PortNews in Lagos.

Eugene Nweke said “Indeed, both officers are distinguished professionals whose records of service, technical competence, administrative capacity and operational discipline have continued to earn them respect within the Customs management system and among critical industry stakeholders.

“Comptroller Joe Anani has demonstrated uncommon dedication, professionalism and result-oriented leadership throughout his stewardship at PTML Command. His impressive revenue performance of over ₦178 billion, operational modernization drive, enhanced trade facilitation measures and strategic enforcement collaborations clearly attest to his competence, vision and administrative dexterity.

“Particularly commendable was his ability to consolidate on the implementation of the B’Odogwu modernization initiative while fostering an atmosphere of teamwork, discipline, inclusiveness and institutional confidence among officers and stakeholders alike. His humane leadership style, accessibility and excellent interpersonal relationship remain qualities that distinguish him as a refined Customs administrator and transformational officer.”

On Deputy Comptroller Miko, he has this to say “Deputy Comptroller Nura Ibrahim Miko assumes leadership at PTML Command with proven experience, technical soundness, humility and a strong professional orientation. His expressed commitment to integrity, due process, collaboration and seamless trade facilitation reflects the mindset of a progressive and service-driven officer fully prepared to consolidate on existing achievements while charting new frontiers of operational excellence.

He expressed optimism in the ability of the two officers to deliver, saying “Without doubt, both officers possess the administrative know-how, emotional intelligence and leadership maturity required to strengthen institutional efficiency, deepen stakeholder confidence and support the ongoing reform agenda of the Service.”

The CCC Scribe commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, over his visionary leadership in piloting the affairs of the Service.

According to him, “special commendation must be extended to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, whose visionary leadership and strategic deployment philosophy continue to place capable hands in critical operational Commands. Such merit-driven postings further reinforce confidence in the reform-oriented leadership direction presently shaping the Nigeria Customs Service.
