FG closes Ibadan Airport

The Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport Ibadan has been closed temporarily by the Federal Government due to ongoing upgrade works towards making the airport an international one.

The runway of the airport, which is currently undergoing remodeling works by the Oyo State Government, has also been closed by the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) in line with the ICAO Regulations.

According to Mrs. Obiageli Orah, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), “in compliance with aviation safety recommended standards and processes, the closure became imperative to ensure the safety of passengers as well as airport personnel.

“FAAN appeals to airport users and stakeholders for their understanding and cooperation during the closure period.”
