National Police Day: Maritime Police Command appreciates dedication of departed officers and men
As the Nigeria Police Force commemorates the 2026 National Police Day, the Maritime Police Command, under the Leadership of AIG Okunade Ronke Nurat, fsi, mspsp, has used the occasion to appreciate the resilience, dedication, and sacrifices of officers and men of the Force, particularly those who have paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
AIG Okunade Ronke Nurat noted that the service and commitment of the departed officers and men remain a source of inspiration to all.
The 2026 National Police Day would be celebrated between Monday, 30th March, 2026 and Tuesday, 7th April, 2026 across the federation. Its theme is “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” underscores the critical role of collaboration between the Police and the public in fostering a safe, secure, and prosperous society.
Speaking on the event, Okunade informed that the Maritime Police Command would actively participate in the nationwide programme of activities marking the celebration in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM.
Activities lined up by the Command include environmental sanitation exercises, medical outreach programmes, public sensitization campaigns, and other community-based initiatives aimed at strengthening public confidence and enhancing service delivery.

Environmental sanitation exercises around Force Headquarters Annex, Kam Salem House, Obalende, and designated jetties within Lagos.
Day 2 – Tuesday, 31st March, 2026:
Walkathon from Kam Salem House, Obalende to the State Marine Office, Awolowo Road, where a watercraft display will be conducted.
Day 3 – Wednesday, 1st April, 2026:
Stakeholder sensitization within the maritime domain, particularly among boat operators, coastal communities, and fishermen.
Day 4 – Thursday, 2nd April, 2026:
Support and outreach to families of deceased officers.
Day 5 – Tuesday, 7th April, 2026 (Final Day): Participation in the National Police Day Grand Celebration in Abuja.
