PortNews honours notable stakeholders, companies at 30th anniversary
On Thursday, November 6, 2025, PortNews Newspaper marked its 30th anniversary and annual maritime lecture at Rockview Hotel in Apapa, Lagos.
The event was chaired by former Minister of Interior and shipping magnate, Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho.

At the event, notable companies and individuals in the nation’s maritime sector and aviation sector were honoured with various awards in appreciation of their contributions to the growth of the two sectors and the national economy.


The individuals included former Minister of Interior, Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho; Comptroller General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Chairman of SIFAX Group; Princes Vicky Haastrup, Executive Vice Chairman of ENL Consortium Limited; Hajia Bola Muse, Managing Director og Bomarah Investment Limited; Prince Olayiwola Shittu, Chairman of Skelas Group; and many more.


Two seasoned maritime journalists – Mr. Funso Olojo and Chief Timothy Okorocha – were given awards for their impactful reporting of the sector.
The companies included Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Flour Mills of Nigeria PLC, Greenview Development Nigeria Limited, Eko Support Services Limited, Inland Container Nigeria Limited, NAL-Comet Group, Settle Systems Nigerian Limited, Zarmmak Bonded Terminal, Thasious International Nigeria Limited and many others.





The theme of the lecture, which was delivered by Captain Ladi Olubowale, President of African Shipowners Association (ASA), was Nigeria’s Shipping Carriage Gaps, CVFF and Fading Manpower.




Former President of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Forwarder Eugene Nweke rff, reviewed the theme of the lecture as the Guest Analyst.

Both Olubowale and Nweke were recognized with awards for their contributions to the shipping industry and the national economy.
